Jeff Pearson, Chief Executive of Geldards said: “As our Head Office, this significant investment ensures we remain at the centre of the thriving business community in the Welsh capital. The new premises have been designed to deliver a high-quality environment, providing the right infrastructure to deliver an effective service from a specialist and highly qualified workforce.
Our new offices provide our clients and our staff with a first-class working environment utilising modern, efficient and best in class technology. It allows us to enhance our clients’ experience with a newly designed client suite incorporating the latest and best ideas on connectivity, confidentiality, hospitality and comfort whilst maintaining the professional image necessary for a law firm. It also enables us to ensure that all who work here have a comfortable, healthy, environmentally friendly workplace that will allow us to improve collegiately, whilst also impacting positively on accessibility and productivity”.
Extensive workplace analysis was conducted by Rio and included a detailed staff survey, the result of which was a set of requirements key to the design process.
Geldards believed that an office move could reinvigorate performance, changing how the company was perceived and presenting more efficient ways of working. More fundamentally it was an opportunity to review and consider how the company could work more effectively, in terms of individuals and collectively.
Key design aspirations for Geldards new office included boosting staff morale, supporting health and wellbeing, improving collaboration and encouraging communication. These objectives have been met through lighting, space planning, comfort, furniture and concious styling choices.
Claire Broad Head of Interior Architecture, Rio Architects said "Using our experience, imagination and innovation, our vision for Geldards new working environment was driven by biophilic design utilising a colour palette, fabrics and materials inspired by nature. By maximising natural light and embracing flexibility, the completed scheme offers a variety of different spaces including communal and collaborative working areas that positively impact wellbeing, accessibility and productivity.
The new workplace has become a destination in its own right with a welcoming reception, meeting suite and flexible function space which will enhance Geldards’ own clients experience. Allermuir products were pivotal in the realisation of the concept design, their support was invaluable and contributed to the cohesive team ethic established between, Rio, Momentum and the wider design team who worked in unison to deliver the completed scheme."
Mark Smith, Project Manager of Geldards said “From the outset it was recognized that new furniture was a key aspect of the move in terms of creating an efficient, pleasant working environment with imaginative use of space. The furniture selection process was a fundamental part of the programme and the selection of Momentum through a tender and interview process was critical to the success of the project in terms of meeting quality and functional objectives.
